My name is Zsófi, and I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling to adults at two different locations in London (in Hackney and in Golders Green) and online.
Most of my work is conducted in English, but I also offer therapy in Hungarian, so I've dedicated a full separate introduction for those interested in counselling in Hungarian, which you'll find in the Magyar dropdown menu.
It is with a deep trust in an innate tendency towards becoming and actualising one’s potentials that I regard counselling. Similarly to how a potato starts growing sprouts even under harsh conditions, I believe in the notion that individuals also have an adaptive tendency towards growth, however unfavourable their circumstances might be. As such, my aim is to help all my clients to grow their ‘sprouts’, even if these circumstances can only allow for a slow, pale start. This means that as my client, I trust you in your ability to know what is best for you, and I am ready to be there with you, providing a safe environment and counselling relationship in which you can find this knowledge that is already in there.
Person-centred counselling is a humanistic approach to psychotherapy which places the focus on the client’s personal power that is to be supported by the safe environment co-created with the therapist. Accordingly, a strong emphasis is placed on creating the relationship in which you can truly feel and be yourself, and in which you feel you’re having a conversation with a genuine and real person who is fully present and involved. I believe that every counselling process is different, and it is the uniqueness of the counselling relationship that can provide a soil for the process of change.
Counselling sessions generally occur weekly and last for 50 minutes each, but other arrangements with regards to regularity can be arranged. I am based in London, and in-person sessions are currently available in Hackney (Space To Be You) and in Golders Green (North London Therapy Practice). As for online sessions, I use Microsoft Teams. Testing the waters is completely fine before you make the decision of starting the counselling process with me, which is why I offer a free introduction call of 20 minutes online, during which you can get to know me a bit and ask any questions you may have.
Do you have any questions? Do you feel you might give counselling a go?
